Dubai has recently launched an ambitious new energy strategy, including a provision to make solar rooftop system energy mandatory from 2030.

As a result of the emirate's Shams Dubai Net Metering scheme, 6,727 buildings had installed solar panel mounting system as of the end of March, according to the Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (DEWA). These systems have a total generating capacity of about 298.7MW
