Solar Power Europe has released the latest edition of Global PV Market Outlook Report 2021-2025, which predicts that the total installed capacity of global solar will reach a high value in the next five years. In 2021, 900 gigawatts will easily pass the milestone of terawatt level, reaching 1.1 terawatts in 2022, 1.3 terawatts in 2023, 1.6 terawatts in 2024 and 1.8 terawatts in 2025.

According to the forecast of Solar Power Europe, the global new PV will reach 163 GW in 2021, 203 GW in 2022, 225 GW in 2023, 239 GW in 2024 and 266 GW in 2025. The most optimistic forecast is that by the end of 2025, the global cumulative solar power generation will reach 2100GW.

In the next four years, the installed capacity of solar energy will exceed the previous forecast. By 2022, the annual installed capacity will exceed 200 GW, and in 2023, 29 countries will increase the annual photovoltaic capacity by more than 1 GW.

In the next five years, aiming at the development trend of rooftop photovoltaic and terrestrial photovoltaic power plants, SolarPower Europe predicts that due to the pressure of double carbon targets in various countries, it will take the lead in realizing affordable rooftop photovoltaic, with better competitiveness and more eye-catching performance, although the total amount is still not as good as that of terrestrial photovoltaic power plants. After that, the proportion of solar panels systems on ground plants will increase year by year.
