According to the Philippine Department of Energy, the Philippines will start up nearly 2GW of solar power capacity in 2024. 1.98GW of solar capacity will be added to the grid this year as part of 4.2GW of renewable energy projects. The ministry said the Philippines could turn on 966MW of solar power capacity by June, of which 495MW is already in the commissioning phase. The renewable energy capacity target also includes 590MW of battery storage capacity, with 32.42MW of capacity currently in operation.
