Bangladesh is densely populated (~170 million people), with electricity demand growing at ~7% annually. However, traditional energy sources (mainly natural gas) are insufficient, and rural electrification remains low (~80% grid access but with unstable supply).

The government aims to increase renewable energy share to 40% by 2030 (currently ~3%, dominated by solar) and achieve "clean energy for all" by 2041.

Bangladesh’s PV growth is currently dominated by decentralized (off-grid + rooftop) systems.
